The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, known as the NAACP, was founded in 1909. It was created by a diverse group of leaders who believed in equality, fairness, and the protection of civil rights for all Americans The NAACP worked to bring attention to concerns that were often overlooked. By documenting conditions and sharing information with the public, the organization helped encourage thoughtful discussion and awareness The purpose of the NAACP has always been to promote equal rights and eliminate unfairness. The organization works to ensure that laws and policies are applied fairly and that every citizen has access to opportunity and justice. When the NAACP was formed, many African Americans faced unfair treatment in schools, jobs, housing, and public spaces.
