The Ronettes in 1967 The Ronettes began as a close‑knit family group from New York City, made up of young Black and Puerto Rican singers who grew up surrounded by music, harmony, and rhythm. Their voices blended naturally, and their early sound came from singing together at home, at school events, and at neighborhood gatherings. Long before they became known on stages, they were simply girls who loved to sing, practicing harmonies in hallways, stairwells, and living rooms.
