Black People Who Built The White House (1792-1800)

 The White House is one of the most recognized buildings in the United States. It stands as a symbol of leadership, government, and national history. However, behind its white stone walls is a story that was not always fully told. The construction of the White House depended heavily on the labor of Black people who were forced to work during the early years of the nation. Their skills, strength, and endurance helped shape a building that would become central to American life. Some skilled people worked as carpenters, stone cutters, and brick makers. Others cleared land, transported supplies, and helped shape the foundation of the building.
